Click Next.

About Western Digital Kitfox
Western Digital Kitfox is software that checks on Western Digital drives in Windows. Tools for checking health, firmware versions and updates are included.
Supported Drives
- Retail Internal Drives: WD_BLACK & WD HDD (Black, Blue, Green, Red, Purple, Gold)
- Retail External Drives: WD_BLACK P10, D10
- Other Drives: Internal and external drives may appear in the Western Digital Kitfox but are not supported.

Device Summary
Device Summarry provides:
- Device information
- Device speed and security
- Disk space available and used
- Attach a supported drive.
- Click a drive from My Devices.
- Click Device Summary & Logs.
- Check the summary.
Drive Not Detected
Western Digital Kitfox supports WD products.
Common causes of drives not being detected are:
- An unsupported drive.
- Incompatible or outdated drivers.
- A faulty cable or power connector
- An internal drive not seen by BIOS.
- A faulty or failed drive.
- A third-party backup or antivirus software blocking access.
- A third-party enclosure or docking station blocking access.
- A drive in a RAID slot on some systems might not be seen even if the drive isn't set as RAID.
Make sure the cables are connected properly then click the Scan for Devices.
Temperature Monitoring
Western Digital Kitfox supports temperature monitoring for WD products.
Monitoring can be found in the device health section.
Drives perform better, last longer and have fewer issues when used within the specs.

Drive Diagnostics
- Attach a supported drive.
- Click a drive from My Devices.
- Under Device Health choose either:
- Short Test: A quick drive health test.
- Extended Test: A thorough drive health test.
The extended test can take 10 minutes or more to complete.
- A drive test PASS or FAIL message is shown when the test completes.

Erase Options
Western Digital Kitfox provides a Quick and Full Zeros erase options.
- Click a drive from My Devices.
- Click Erase.
- Choose either:
- Write Quick Zeros: erases data at the beginning and end of the drive by overwriting it.
- Write Full Zeros: erases data on the drive media by overwriting it.
IMPORTANT:- The data will be unrecoverable when performing Full Zeros.
- It may take several hours to complete.
Full Device Log Data
The log data provides device configuration and SMART information .
- Attach a supported drive.
- Click a drive from My Devices.
- Choose either:
- Identify Device: reports device configuration information
- SMART Read Data/Feature D0H: checks the health of device
